位于西山岛北部，南倚青山，北濒太湖，与横山、阴山、绍山诸岛相望的东村，因商山四皓之一的东园公曾隐居于此而得名，古称东园村，简称东村，已有2000多年的历史。

东村古宅多为明清建筑，粉墙黛瓦，雕梁画栋，石雕、砖雕、木雕，雕刻工艺精湛。由于时代久远，很多建筑因年久失修而濒于破败，村中唯一完整的老房子，就是相传乾隆金屋藏娇之所《敬修堂》相传乾隆下江南时期曾和一位姓殷的女子居住于此。很多老房子仅剩门楼还在，但呈现在我们眼前的却是原汁原味的古老和精致，令人叹为观止。

Dongcun’s ancient houses are mostly Ming and Qing architecture, with white walls and tiles, carved beams and painted buildings, stone carvings, brick carvings, wood carvings, and exquisite carving craftsmanship. Due to the long age, many buildings are on the verge of ruin due to disrepair. The only intact old house in the village is the "Jingxiutang", which is the home of Qianlong's golden house. According to legend, it was said that Qianlong lived with a woman surnamed Yin in the south of the Yangtze River during the Qianlong period.
